Institutional Critique Seminar

leave a comment »

Join us for a conversation about Institutional Critique regarding both canonical ‘institutional critique’ artists (Andrea Fraser, Hans Haacke) as well as negotiating our personal and collective relationship to the University as ‘institution.’ All are warmly invited.

The readings we will be discussing can be downloaded here, all in one pdf.

We’ll be looking at Alexander Alberro on the history of Institutional Critique; Marc Bousquet on some political aspects of the University; Andrea Fraser on the “institution of critique”; and finally Brian Holmes on new ways to consider the future of Institutional Critique.
